MasterCard presented MasterIndex Survey in Azerbaijan with support of PR-agency NobletMedia CIS 22.12.2011
MasterIndex Survey was first commissioned by MasterCard in Baku and its results were presented to media and representatives of Azerbaijani banks. 50% of Baku population has at least one debit card in the wallet.
In Autumn 2011 MasterIndex Survey was first performed in Baku under the coordination of NobletMedia CIS. This kind of surveys is regularly conducted in different countries by MasterCard, to identify payment cards usage and habits, motivations or barriers. According to the survey, 50% of the population in Azerbaijan has at least one debit card in the wallet, while credit cards are owned by only around 2%.Most of the card users are high educated males between ages 18 – 34.
The results of MasterIndex Survey were presented to media and representatives of local banks on December 20, 2011 in conference center of Hilton Baku. The event was organized by PR-company NobletMedia CIS. Press-conference was attended by more then 20 representatives of business, financial and popular media, and more then 60 representatives of Azeri banks visited partner’s conference.
‘MasterIndex Survey was first performed in Baku during October and November 2011. We communicated with card users and non card users to best identify the motivations or barriers against card usage. MasterIndex Survey is being conducted in different countries during last 10 years. As practice shows, the Survey gives very important and reliable information about payment systems and can be used as basis for prognosis and development. We will be working with Azerbaijani banks to address the wishes of Azeri consumers” said Hakan Acar, MasterCard’s Country Manager for Azerbaijan.
About MasterIndex MasterCard’s MasterIndex Survey was implemented via face-to-face 1000 interviews with local population of Baku at their homes. 50% of interviews were conducted with users of plastic cards. The target audience for research was females and males aged 18 – 64. Card users and non card users are equally represented to best identify the motivations or barriers against card usage. MasterIndex is an important and reliable source of information about payment systems. It has been held in numerous European and APMEA region countries for more than 10 years by MasterCard.
